KEXP names new leader at pivotal point for Seattle’s flagship radio station

KEXP has changed over the course of its 50-year existence from a ragtag college radio station to a famous multimedia enterprise with a global audience.

The Seattle institution has seen a number of adjustments in recent years as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

A new CEO and executive director for the independent radio bastion, KEXP, has been chosen to lead the organization as it enters its next phase of development following the recent resignation of longstanding CEO and executive director Tom Mara.

The new president and CEO of KEXP is Ethan Raup, who has been the company's COO for the previous six years.

We're now on an amazing path, believes Raup, who starts his new job on July 1.

I feel proud of the part I played in putting us on that course, and I can't wait to see where we go from here.

After a six-month international search, Raup was chosen to succeed Mara, who had just been appointed executive director of the Seattle International Film Festival.

The search committee wasn't initially concerned with maintaining a sense of continuity at the top of the organization despite losing its 30-year leader.
