Homeowner tax rebate credit checks on their way to NYS residents

New York State has started issuing homeowner tax rebate payments, so residents are advised to check their mail.

About 2.5 million qualified homeowners will receive direct property tax relief this year as a result of the homeowner tax rebate credit, a one-year scheme.

Homeowners who meet the requirements will immediately get a check from the state for the full amount of their credit, so there is nothing they need to do.

Residents must have qualified for a 2022 STAR credit or exemption and have incomes that were less than or equal to $250,000 for the 2020 tax year in order to be eligible to receive a payment.

Moreover, you will owe more in school taxes for the 2022–2023 academic year than your 2022 STAR reward.

Whether a resident receives Basic STAR or Enhanced STAR, the location of their home, their income, and the amount of each refund are all factors.

The amount of the homeowner tax refund credit that each resident will get is available here.

If your check hasn't arrived by the beginning of July, you should anticipate getting it before your school tax bill is due.
