Man Utd transfer news LIVE: CEO Richard Arnold makes ALARMING admission, Frenkie de Jong a PRIORITY, Martinez LINKED

Morning, Manchester United fans

Transfer talks on David Raum and Lysandro Martinez have been marvelously overshadowed by a wonderful entry from United

CEO Richard Arnold. Arnold believes the Red Devils ‘burned through cash’ in 1 billion pounds of waste – and gave last season ‘f*cking nightmare’ status.

Meeting with anti-Glazer protesters at a Cheshire pub, he defended Ed Woodward’s regime, which ended in February.

Arnold said: “We’ve blown away huge amounts of money.

“We spent a billion pounds on players, we spent more than anyone in Europe.

“You can’t walk into our training ground and say ‘Show me that billion pounds is here’.”

On the gossip front, the Red Devils are said to be competing against Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and West Ham for Germany’s left-back Raum of Hoffenheim.

And United are reportedly taking on Arsenal in the race for Ajax centre-back Martinez.

It is claimed the Gunners have already placed a £25 million bid for the rejected Argentine ace.

Lastly, United will offer a ‘try before you sign’ policy to clubs before loaning Starlets.

That means the youth of those clubs and Old Trafford will have a few weeks to see if they think a temporary switch will be right for them.
