good morning arsenal fans
Arsenal will step up their efforts to sign Leeds United winger Rafinha after agreeing a transfer fee of £45 million to sign Man City forward Gabriel Jesus.
The 25-year-old winger has two years left on his deal at land Road but has told Leeds he will not agree to the new terms.
Arsenal have already ruled out an approach this summer but are set to return with a better offer, with talks on the deal being at an advanced stage.
The Gunners have also opened fresh talks with Ajax over the transfer of 24-year-old Lisandro Martinez.
It is reported that the Dutch champions have already rejected a £25million bid from Arsenal and are withholding for a fee closer to their £43million asking price.
In terms of possible outgoings, reports from RMC have indicated that Marseille will test Arsenal’s resolve to keep William Saliba with a £26million bid.
Saliba impressed last season on loan at the Stade Velodrome, helping Jorge Sampaoli’s side finish second in Ligue 1, but the Gunners would eventually like to integrate the centre-back into their first team set-up.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has criticized Hale and graduate Eddie Neketia, declaring he was not good enough to lead the Champions League push.
He added: “No disrespect to Neketia, but Mikel Arteta should realize that he won’t make you into the top four. No chance at all.
“He is not getting ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richardson at Everton and he is not getting ahead of Alexander Mitrovic at Fulham and has only been promoted.”
